Ok so what can you skimp on this winter to save a few dollars? Keep your home at 68 degrees. For every degree you lower your heat in the 60-degree to 70-degree range, you'll save up to 5 percent on heating costs. Which does add up! Just throw on a sweatshirt/ sweater and some socks or slippers when your bumming around the house.

At night you can lower the temperature even more and snuggle in your warm toasty bed saving while you sleep!! And dont forget to get a good quality blanket so you are not letting your body heat escape!

Maybe you can install a programmable thermostat to keep up with all the fluctuation in temperature and keep you free from being a slave to the thermostat all winter. We are in love with this webpage and its ideas for a good setting structure.

Clean and replace dirty furnace filters. they should be cleaned once a month. restricted air flow increases energy use and makes your energy bill rise.

Put your computer and monitor to sleep. and at night just shut it down completely-even while it is in sleep mode your computer is still drawing small amounts of energy and money out of your pocket....

Caulk up leaks around windows and doors. look anywhere you have pipes and vents to see if there are any air leaks. Try the candle trick: On a windy day, light a candle and place it near your window with indoor cooling/heating systems off. See if the flame flickers-if it does you have a leak!

Think about changing your blinds to help increase energy efficiency. your windows might be a big factor in why your house is so cold. the wrong window treatments or the windows them selves may be the culprit. Investing is energy saving blind such as Hunter Douglas blinds will help you.

Who says Energy Efficiency doesnt look Elegant?
