Decorate your home with the hottest color this season.

Juicy Vibrant Colors
Bright, bold colors are making a comeback.  Shades of yellow and fuchsia make a statement with (grey, oregano green, peacock blue) and give respect to black, the most bold accent color being integrated in homes this season.

Shades of yellow, fuchsia, deep turquoise and even orange are all tropical, sunny colors.
Canary yellow is bright and warm, like a ray of sunshine and feels stimulating to look at. Pink is used throughout India, as are strong shades like a deep turquoise and peacock blue. Why not paint the room fuchsia pink and do all the trim black!  So striking. Ground these vibrant hues with a fresh neutral such as taupe-grey for a modern feel.

Now accessorize, add new econ-friendly lighting, fabrics and fibers for that now flooring covering to give your room that wow factor.

Visit Carpet One to learn about how you can give your home a new look for less than you might think.

Flooring Guide | Caring for your hardwood floors.

Do’s and Don'ts of Hardwood Floor Care

DO:

  • Place a natural or breathable colorfast mat at outside entries to catch tracked-in dirt and moisture.
  • Prevent indentations with felt floor protectors on chairs and furniture.
  • Immediately wipe up spills or wet feet with a cloth or sponge.
  • Clean with hardwood & laminate floor cleaner and microfiber mop.

DON’T:

  • Use oil soap-based cleaners or "mop and shine" products, which may leave a dull film.
  • Use abrasive cleaners or steel wool, which can scratch your floor.
  • Wax or polish your floor.

Proper Floor Care

First, dry mop or vacuum your hardwood or laminate floor, then clean your wood floor with a hardwood & laminate Floor Cleaner.

Carpet One recommends a cleaner that lifts soil from the surface of the urethane finish without leaving a dull film. Ready-to-Use formulations are great for spot cleaning or all over floor care.

  • No rinsing required, appropriate for all gloss level finishes.
  • Perfectly formulated for no-wax hardwood or laminate floors.

Cheap ways to breath Life into your living space.

It's amazing how changing a few things around can make a tired room look fresh and new again!

Breathe new life into your interior spaces without blasting a hole in your budget. Simple changes can make a big difference.  Your decor is most likely functional, but you need to add something that just says wow.

Integrate all or one of these simple ideas that will brighten up your home.

Add Some Sparkle
Reflective surfaces make room look brighter and larger.  a cut glass candy dish or mirrored tray will perk up that tired table arrangement or add interest to your mantle.

Other good options are crystal photo frames, mirrored coasters and glass collectibles. Integrate glass, mirrors and crystal in wall art and lighting fixtures, too. If you have the budget for it, glass-topped tables with beveled glass inserts or edges make your other furnishings look lighter, brighter, cleaner and richer.

Go Green.
Houseplants bring nature indoors with color and texture.  Attractive pots that include their own water reservoirs and space-age water retaining soil additives make caring for plants, well just easy.
Many houseplants are natural air purifiers working quietly to clean the stale, chemical-laden air your super-efficient weather stripping and other insulation has trapped indoors.

Paint covers a lot of mistakes.
A fresh coat of paint brightens your walls, cover those dings and scratches, and give you a great opportunity to use color to your best advantage.  The right wall paint can coordinate your room décor and even showcase special elements like a fireplace when you incorporate two or more paint colors in a single room. Taking advantage of color psychology in your choices can also help encourage a mellow, cheerful or energetic mood.

Change is good, accessorize!
Change the pillows, candles, area rugs, wall art and throws.

Add one or two of this season's new colors in accent pieces for a little pop. Yes, black is an eye-catching neutral that will revitalize your color scheme by making everything else look more vivid and alive.

Really, grab a black sweater or jacket and throw it on your couch. Don't the colors around it pop? Doesn't the texture of the fabric stand out more?  Black is golden in room décor as long as you don't overdo it. A black wall is probably a bit much.

Rearrange everything.
Make the most of what you've go.  Re-energize your space, find a room on-line and try the layout in your living room.  Feng Shui the room to maximize the energy in the room, rearranging the pieces to suit your mood - all without spending a dime.

Here are some things to consider when you're redesigning your furniture placement:

Create groupings
Groupings are smaller areas within a larger space that preserve function and have definition, like a reading nook that's well-defined by the placement of a rug, wall art or a lamp.

• Respect flow -
The way people move in and out of a space to other areas of your home is important. You want to leave paths around the furniture to let people enter and exit without having to vault over footstools or tables.

Play up a focal point
If you have a great view or a nice fireplace, make sure to take advantage of it. Arranging your seating so that family and visitors can see and appreciate the room's amenities will make the space more fun (and functional).

Indulge in a scavenger hunt
It's a good idea to check the rest of your home for items that may also work in the room. A couple of smart swaps can effectively makeover two rooms at once. If you can pull them off, twofers are terrific!
